A manipulation slab is an obesk device used to work with materials without physical contact. It is possible that one of the cysts visible on the device is a connector that one can put on a receptor in order to operate the manipulator using thought as input.

The device is similar in purpose to a laboratory glovebox, where potentially hazardous materials can be safely interacted with in a closed, controlled environment using an inbuilt pair of gloves^[1].
