The groundsmind is the obesk that has been assigned to connect to the groundsmindry cyst, a very large corrucyst that is connected to a major building or structure.[1] It is assumed that this connection is permanent.
The groundsmind is responsible of the maintenance of the structure and can assume direct control of its functions and constructs, most notably golems and Movefriend. Moth describes becoming a groundsmind is like becoming the building itself.[2] There were several relays in the Embassy to override the groundsmind, most notably in Golem Maintenance.[3] Vekoa was the groundsmind of the Embassy before the events of the Collapse.
Groundsmindry technology was the direct inspiration for the Mindspike industry.[4]
Mobile
Not much is known about mobile groundsmindry, other than it is considered extremely illegal by the obesk. During the Collapse, Gakvu had a mindcore with mobile groundsmindry capabilities. This allowed her to open previously closed paths,[5] destabilize corru,[6] remove groundsmind connections to constructs,[7] and "see" mindcores within Qou bodies.[8]
