The Interloper is the game's central protagonist, an FBX employee, and the lens through which the game is played. Making use of their intraspinal Mindspike implant, the Interloper is able to tap into residual memory data and navigate thoughtspaces contained within the corrucyst.

The Interloper is a cold, blunt, and stoic character, demonstrated through their short and dry responses throughout the game. They are heavily focused on their mission, and are also willing to do anything to complete it. They rarely show any emotion through their actions, only smiling one time after Moth making the remark of the basement being the only place where a "mindpsycho isn't staring at you through the walls."[2]

They do not seem to be a hesitant person, as they immediately accepted the masks from the residents of Jokzi Ozo without knowing what they were, despite Moth's protests.
Name
While their true name is unknown, the "Interloper" nickname originates from Funfriend after he noticed their lack of signature in tangent with the disassociation of the authentication layer.[4] They are an interloper; not only because they are normally unable to connect to corrucystic technology, but they are also not permitted to connect whatsoever.[5]
Despite Interloper being a title rather than a name, many lucid thoughtforms across the cyst continue to refer to them as such.[6][7][8] When approached by the Council about it, they still refuse to share a proper name, insisting they continue calling them "Interloper." [9]
