City Surface is a thoughtspace in the Cyst. It is accessed through They Watch inside Their City. It contains various thoughtspaces and thoughtforms regarding Akizet's time on the Earth's surface.
Initial Visit
The thoughtspace is navigable as a 3D environment of an unidentifiable street. Interacting with the Gordon thoughtform brings up a small dialog between Akizet and Gordon in which he appreciates her visit and assures her of her safety.
Coffee Shop
In the Coffee Shop, Akizet and Gordon order coffee, with the Cashier asking questions to Akizet, like if she does, in fact, eat food and drink. After ordering coffee, the initial visit cannot progress further.
The Bureau
The Bureau building is able to be entered, which reveals a corporate lobby with an elevator that leads to the Room High Up. However, the thoughtspace is blocked by Velzie and interacting with the elevator causes the Gordon thoughtform to brokenly proclaim that the elevator is broken.
Revisit
After the encounter with Velzie in the Depths
After Velzie overloads the Mindspike, the elevator to the Room High Up is unlocked. Entering the thoughtspace prompts a memory stream between Akizet and Gordon discussing the Call.
Post-Feeding the Cyst
After feeding the Cyst, there are many more examinable entities.
Post-Recollection: Suspicion
After finishing Recollection: Suspicion, there is a choice to continue the memory stream. Following this stream leads to a new dialogue between Akizet and Gordon in the elevator after their meeting in the Room High Up, in which she offers a corru-electricity converter in exchange for Gordon's help in her investigation.
If the memory stream is not followed, it can be viewed by interacting with the elevator in the Bureau.
After unlocking Golem Maintenance
After Unlocking the Golem Maintenance section of Recollection: Collapse, a few new sections will appear in the City. One new location is down the street, past the coffee shop.
Flower Shop
After entering the new location, there will be a flower shop that can be entered. Interacting with the sunflower will yield dialogue between Akizet, Gordon, and the shopkeeper, Isabel.
After the dialogue, the thoughtform of Isabel appears to be lucid and asks the Interloper to stay here. Moth notes how strange this is, and tells the Interloper to try talking to it again.
Talking to Isabel again, she asks if Akizet is the one going through this memory, but then finds out that the one who is viewing this memory is an interloper. The Interloper can then ask questions to Isabel about who she is; and Isabel says that she can answer these questions, and more, if the Interloper helps get her out of the memory.
The Pier
Leaving and continuing down the sidewalk, Akizet and Gordon walk to a pier. Interacting with the thoughtform of Gordon leads to a dialogue between the two in which they admire the view and briefly discuss the differences between human and Obesk infrastructure.
After unlocking Masks
After unlocking the Unity Mask, using the unity ability on Isabel will guide her back to her home.
After unlocking the Hunger Mask, the city's counterpart in the Beneath can be traveled to and from while wearing the mask at the pier.
